What will happen to my Green Building Store order in the event of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit?
In the unlikely event of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit, Green Building Store wanted to reassure its customers that we have developed a strategy to ensure the continued delivery of products imported from Europe by us, without additional unexpected charges being added to our customers.
A central element of this is the reassurance that, once you have entered into a contract with Green Building Store, the price of your order will be unaffected by either any subsequent imposition of tariffs or changes in exchange rates as a result of ‘No Deal’ Brexit.
More details about Green Building Store’s policy in the event of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit are outlined below.
‘No Deal’ Brexit and the implications for goods imported from the EU
In the circumstances of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit there is a risk that tariffs may be imposed immediately on goods imported from EU countries. There is also the possibility of a drop in the value of the pound sterling (GBP) affecting prices.
This guidance is for our customers concerned about the potential impact on their dealings with us.
Directly imported products
Green Building Store imports the following products directly from EU manufacturers, which are purchased in Euros.
- Performance and Ultra window and door ranges. These are manufactured in, and directly imported from Lithuania.
- Progression windows. These are manufactured in and directly imported from the Czech Republic.
- Compacfoam. This is manufactured in and directly imported from Austria.
- Some MVHR fittings. These are manufactured in and directly imported from Poland.
Indirectly imported products
GBS also sells products manufactured in the EU which are imported into the UK by others and purchased by the Company in GBP.
Any order placed with us is always in GBP and forms a contract to supply between GBS and you, to which both parties are contractually bound. The only variation under our standard terms and conditions (in common with all companies) would be to the gross value if the VAT rate was changed between the date of order and delivery. Once you have entered into a contract with us your price will consequently be unaffected by either any imposition of tariffs or changes in exchange rates as a result of ‘No Deal’ Brexit.
Our quotations are normally valid for 60 days from the date of issue. Under our standard terms and conditions they are subject to there being no variation in exchange rate in excess of 5%. From this point forward, until the outcome of Brexit is determined, Green Building Store will reserve the right to vary quotations to cover the cost of any tariff imposed on GBS, as a result of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit. However we guarantee that any variation resulting from the imposition of tariffs will not be more than 5%. As outlined above, please be assured that once an order is placed there will be no variation on price (unless VAT levels change).
There is a risk in the case of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit that there may be transport delays from Europe. While we normally make every effort to deliver on time, in our contracts we do not accept any penalty for late delivery. However should Brexit cause transport delays, we will work closely with you and our hauliers to minimise any impact these may have on your project.
