Drying clothes in a Passivhaus

Question: Following on from our Passivhaus open day visit I was just wondering how do they dry their clothes in a Passivhaus? I’ve got mine on the radiators all over my drafty old Victorian house at this time of year!!! Just wondered where all that moisture goes too!

Answer: Drying clothes in the winter seems to be a perennial problem in UK homes. However in Passivhaus houses, clothes dry overnight without the need for radiators! The water vapour in the air condenses in a condensate drain in the MVHR unit and then drains away.
In small Passivhaus buildings which generate a lot of water through cooking / showering, there is never usually a problem with being too dry but some MVHR systems are available now which can re-humidify a building if needed.
