PERFORMANCE timber windows
Having seen the windows, I felt that they were good quality and at a good price. We are familiar with numerous window ranges and I felt PERFORMANCE was as good as many more expensive ones.

PERFORMANCE windows specified for architect’s own home

Mark Herbert, a partner of Ansell and Bailey Architects, specified PERFORMANCE timber windows for his own 1960s detached house in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire.

Mark was keen to replace the original steel windows with windows with a higher environmental performance. PERFORMANCE’s thermal efficiency and use of FSC timber were important factors, but so too was the quality. “Having seen the windows, I felt that they were good quality and at a good price. We are familiar with numerous window ranges and I felt PERFORMANCE was as good as many more expensive ones.”

PERFORMANCE tilt and turn windows were chosen; double-glazed, inward opening and finished with a pine stain. The windows are part of a refurbishment of the house, which includes the addition of oak cladding. Mark has been pleased with the end result, describing the PERFORMANCE windows as “Well-engineered, with a good finish”, the windows have received favourable comments from visitors.

Specifiying PERFORMANCE for his home was a ‘trial run’ for use on other schemes including healthcare developments and a new build house aiming at Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 and above.
