Environmental data
- Ozone depletion potential Zero
- Free from CFCs and VOCs
- Exceeded BREEAM Green Guide rating 'A' (0.005 Ecopoints)
- Thermal conductivity value (k) = 0.035 W/mK in lofts (tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 10456:2000).
U values
Warmcel has insulation properties which are equivalent to mineral fibre
insulation. You will need the approximate following thicknesses to
achieve these U values.
U = 0.25 W2K @ 125 mm deep
U = 0.16 W/m2K @ 225 mm deep
The current Building Regulations target U value for a loft ceiling is 0.16 W/m2K
How much do I need?
We recommend insulating your loft to a total thickness of 300mm (building regulations require 250mm),
however you are of course free to insulate to whatever thickness you
choose. Use the chart below to decide how much you need.
One bag weighs 8kg, and contains 0.25 m3.
| Thickness | 1 bags covers | No of bags for 1 m2 |
| 100mm | 2.50 m2 | 0.4 |
| 150mm |
1.66m2 |
0.6 |
| 200mm |
1.25m2 |
0.8 |
| 225mm |
1.10m2 |
0.9 |
A loft of 50 m2, with 225 mm insulation would need 50/1.10 = 46 bags (rounded up)
A loft of 80 m2, with 150 mm top up insulation would need 80/1.66 = 49 bags (rounded up)
Fire resistance
Warmcel is extremely resistant to fire through the addition of simple inorganic salts and meets the Fire Performamce requirements of BS5803 Part 4:1985.
Quality assured
Excel
Industries is registered by BBA Quality Assurance as a firm of assessed
capability to manufacture cellulose fibre thermal insulation in
accordance with BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
Warmcel also conforms to the
requirements of BS5803:1985 Part 3 'Thermal Insulation for Use in
Pitched Roof Spaces in Dwellings".
