Secured by Design
Green Building Store's Ecocontract (inward & outward opening) range are Secured by Design certified and certified under the Q Mark Enhanced Security Window & Q Mark Enhanced Security Door Scheme.
The Q Mark Scheme was introduced to support the testing requirements for Secured by Design (SBD), the police initiative to reduce crime on housing developments. This scheme involves incorporating crime prevention measures at the design stage, which are then independently certified by a recognised third party such as BM Trada
For windows to be compliant with Secured by Design requirements, companies must be certificated for production to BS 7950 enhanced security for domestic windows. (BSI Kite-mark, BBA certificate, BM-Trada Q-Mark, BWF-TWAS or equivalent). Testing must be carried out at an UKAS accredited test house.
The Ecocontract range has been designed and tested to meet the following performance and security standards:
- BS7950:1997 - Specification for enhanced security performance of windows for domestic applications. The scheme is the basis for acceptance to Secured by Design.
- PAS 23-1:1999 General performance requirements for door assemblies
- PAS 24:2007 Enhance security performance requirements for door assemblies.
