Prince of Wales Pub, Bristol

Prince of wales pub

Owned and managed by John and Anna Gorman, The Prince of Wales pub in Bristol has a reputation for being one of the best pubs in the area, and is known for its friendly welcome and great food. John and Anna are keen to set environmental standards and have an eco friendly policy that runs throughout the business ranging from biodegradable bin bags and green electric to a 100 per cent organic wine list. They even sell their own Organic Beer - Charlie’s Pride, and buy food from local producers, opting for free range and organic wherever possible.

The existing toilets in the pub were inefficient, smelly and desperately needed replacing. When looking at the possible options, John and Anna were keen to choose facilities that were as water and energy-efficient as possible without compromising on quality. Initially, John looked into installing a greywater system but decided against this due to the amount of space required.

He eventually decided to install 3 ES4 WCs and 3 AIRFLUSH® waterless urinals because of their efficient use of water. By installing AIRFLUSH® urinals, John and Anna avoided the use of expensive replacement cartridges and eliminated bad odours. The ES4 was chosen because of its ultra-low 4.5 litre flush(since reduced to 4 litres)  and simple, clean design.

John is really impressed with the new facilities. He said, “I would recommend the AIRFLUSH® urinal and the ES4 WC, particularly for buildings where facilities are used frequently. As well as reducing water consumption they also save money so it makes good business sense. We’re really pleased with the new toilets and have had some really positive feedback from customers.”
