Achieving low carbon buildings
Green Building Store's construction division - Green Building Company - offers advisory, partnership and technical support to designers and builders of low carbon and Passivhaus buildings.
We can help analyse the impact of design and the thermal bridging effect of different materials and how they combine together for both new build and retrofit, using modelling techniques where appropriate. We will seek to advise the most appropriate long term low energy solution, working with customer objectives. We draw on our 25 years of experience as low energy and more recently Passivhaus builders ourselves. Bill Butcher is a certified Passive House Consultant and led on the pioneering Denby Dale Passivhaus build.
Options Include:
- Design review by Bill Butcher. Ideal for those who already have plans, we offer a chance to review your plans and detailing with Bill Butcher. These sessions are typically at Green Building Store’s office, though site visits may sometimes be practical. £300 per half day, up to 4 hours.
- Design support through use of Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP) to assess the impact of design options – required for Passivhaus Certification and recommended for very low energy building. Paul Smith. £35 per hour.
- Thermal analysis of detailing – Paul Smith . £35 per hour
- CAD details of key junctions to guide installation – Paul Smith . £35 per hour
- Ongoing telephone/ email support to Construction or Site Manager for Passivhaus Building – Bill Butcher . £60 per hour
- Passivhaus Training. An introduction to Passivhaus, learning from the Denby Dale build experience and including a site visit to the Denby Dale House. £295 per person.
- Training/advisory support to key personnel, including site agents, installers/building personnel – Bill Butcher, with other colleagues as appropriate. Cost depending on requirements and location.
