Ultra efficient glazing
All low-emissivity glazing uses an invisible metallic coating to reflect
radiant heat back into the building, without affecting incoming heat from the
sun. We combine this with an inert gas fill (Argon or Krypton) to
further reduce heat loss from conduction and convection.
The advanced glazing used for Ecoplus is also superior because of its 'soft coat' low
emissivity coating, which makes it not only one of the best insulated glazing
materials, but gives outstanding optical clarity and light transmission.
True warm edge
A warm edge spacer is a type of spacer material used to separate the panes of glass (or glazing) in an insulating glass window unit. Ecoplus uses one of the best insulated spacer systems available in the window frame, increasing the overall efficiency of the glazing and virtually eliminating the threat of condensation at the edge of the unit and the danger of harmful mould growth.
Triple glazing as standard
As part of Green Building Stores commitment to promoting ultra low
energy building design, we have switched our Ecoplus window production
to focus on triple glazing and, from 1st June 2009 have made
argon filled triple glazing more affordable by offering it at the same
price as double glazing. We believe triple glazing should become the
standard choice for windows and doors in the UK to help combat climate
change. Triple glazed windows are around 30% more efficient than double
glazing and can significantly improve the energy efficiency of homes,
saving money on energy bills and reducing CO2 emissions.
Ecoplus has been at the cutting edge of thermal effcency since its launch. In 1995 it offered ultra efficient glazing, almost 70% more efficient than the then building regulations. Today Ecoplus, with argon fill triple glazing as standard, still offers a 50% improvement in efficiency over current, much more stringent, Part L building regulations.
* Green Building Store is committed to supporting the uptake of triple glazing in the UK and has increased production efficiency and reduced the cost of its Ecoplus triple glazed windows and doors to help consumers go down this route. The cost reductions have brought the cost of triple glazing in line with that of double glazing (based on Ecoplus double glazing prices which remain unchanged from 2008 to the present). Does not apply to solar spaces and conservatories.
