Any window, as long as it's green
Dated: 12/02/2008
Green Building Store is establishing itself as the sustainable window specialist with its launch at Ecobuild 2008 of two new products. The new products fit into Green Building Store’s portfolio of sustainable window options – making Green Building Store products ideal for most eco window specifications, whatever the budget and environmental criteria.
- The new Ecocontract range of FSC timber windows is being introduced to offer a cost-effective and sustainable option for larger scale projects. It is ideal for housing associations and developers trying to meet Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM criteria.
- Accoya timber is being introduced as an option in its Ecoplus and Ecocontract ranges. Accoya is a revolutionary new timber product manufactured using a non-toxic wood acetylisation process, which results in a high performance product with 60 year minimum life expectancy.
Green Building Store’s three window ranges – Ecoplus, Ecoclad and the new Ecocontract – all use FSC certified timber and have ultra-low U values as standard. However, with the additional eco-options, specifiers now have a wider range of choices.
- Timber choices include: FSC 100% redwood, FSC 100% oak and the new FSC Mixed Accoya. Glazing can be: double or triple, with solar gain/ solar control glazing options, and with or without ‘warm edge’ spacers.
- Whole window U values can range from 1.6W/m2K to 0.9 W/m2K
- Treatments and finishes can include boron treatments and natural oil-based finishes or the Remmers water-based system.
- Aluminium cladding or Accoya timber offer low maintenance options for projects where maintenance is an issue.
- Styles offered include: inward/ outward opening, sash windows, flush profile etc.
- Specifiers can even choose between the UK manufactured windows or the Northern European imported range.
Green Building Store has been at the cutting edge of environmental window design since 1995, when it pioneered the use of boron timber treatments in window manufacture. In 2004 it introduced the first UK manufactured FSC 100% timber windows and in 2007 it launched the first
FSC 100% timber/ aluminium composite windows in the UK. According to Chris Herring, Green Building Store Director “Because Green Building Store specialises in and only supplies sustainable windows, we can really advise on the best environmental specification for any project. In addition to great technical know-how, we offer an installation service and comprehensive aftersales service”. Green Building Store will be exhibiting its new window options at Ecobuild on Stand E162.
