Natural paints and other green building products are often hard to get hold of - they are rarely to be found in local hardware shops or the large DIY chains - and even the most committed environmentally-conscious consumer may give up the search. They can also be expensive. All this is about to change, however, with the launch (Monday 1st October 2001) of Green Building Store, a new on-line and mail-order green DIY store.
Green Building Store is offering a wide range of affordable green building products which can be ordered directly over the internet at www.greenbuildingstore.co.uk, or by telephone on 01484 854898, with 48-hour delivery. www.greenbuildingstore.co.uk also contains extensive information on green building issues, a discussion forum and useful links to other eco-friendly sites.
Included in the Green Building Store range is the Natural Paint Collection, containing a wide selection of natural paints and wood finishes. These are made using natural ingredients, such as linseed oil, chalk and pine resin, instead of the complex synthetic petrochemicals used in conventional paints, and have zero or minimal VOC content. Prices for paints in the Collection are comparable with mainstream paint brands1. Also available from Green Building Store: water-based paint strippers, timber treatments, non-PVC guttering, recycled insulation products, tubular skylights and many more.
Green Building Store is a new initiative from Environmental Construction Products, manufacturer of the Ecoplus System windows, doors and conservatories.
