New FSC Window Range
Dated: 25/09/2005
Green Building Store launches today (Monday 26th September 2005) its Ecoplus System range of windows and doors, offering specifiers a new exacting level of environmental design. The new Ecoplus System range is manufactured entirely from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified timber, making it the first UK manufactured range of FSC 100% windows and glazed doors. Designed in conjunction with the Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA), the Ecoplus System also incorporates the best of UK and European research, culminating in a product range that successfully combines sustainability with contemporary design
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is the only global timber certification scheme endorsed by all major environmental NGOs and the UK government. FSC 100% certification offers an assurance to specifiers that all timber used in the Ecoplus System range is responsibly sourced. FSC-certified European laminated oak or redwood is used in the new range, which uses the latest lamination and finger joint technology to minimise resource use and improve durability.
In addition to its FSC 100% certification, the new Ecoplus System offers a number of other environmental design features. Its use of ultra low emissivity double or triple glazing results in centre pane U-values of 1.2 or 0.5W/m2K respectively, far in excess of the current part L of the building requirements. Use of technically advanced glazing spacers help maximise thermal efficiency and virtually eliminate cold edge condensation. Paints and finishes for the Ecoplus range are based on natural plant oils.
The high performance European flush sash profile gives the Ecoplus System a versatile and contemporary appearance that suits both modern and traditional buildings. The new Ecoplus windows have recently been installed at a new accommodation block at Magdalene College, Cambridge. Chris Herring, Director of Green Building Store, said “Our aim has always been to be at the cutting edge of environmental design and the new Ecoplus System sets high environmental and performance standards for others to follow”.
