Local authorities, housing associations and commercial developers can now source the ultimate in low-maintenance, sustainable windows and doors. Green Building Store is proud to launch the first range of FSC-certified timber/ alu-clad windows available in the UK*. Designed to provide an environmentally responsible solution to low maintenance window specification, the Ecoclad range is particularly suited to larger commercial and public sector buildings where ongoing maintenance can be problematic. Timber used for the windows is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified providing an independent verification that all timber used is sustainably sourced. At the same time aluminium cladding ensures that minimal maintenance is needed and protects the windows from weather damage.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is the only global timber certification scheme endorsed by all major environmental NGOs and the UK government. FSC 100% certification offers an assurance to specifiers that all timber used in the Ecoclad range is responsibly sourced. FSCcertified European laminated redwood is used in the new range, which uses the latest lamination and finger joint technology to minimise resource use and improve durability. The Ecoclad range also offers excellent levels of thermal efficiency, with argon-filled double or triple glazed units that offer whole window U values of between 1.6 W/m2K and 1.1 W/m2K, far in excess of current building regulations.
The new range has been welcomed by the Forest Stewardship Council. The Ecoclad range is a welcome addition to Green Building Store’s pioneering Ecoplus System FSC 100% window and door range, which offers a high environmental specification for smaller projects and domestic needs. The Ecoclad range is being launched at the Ecobuild exhibition (Stand E400), and is being exhibited alongside the Ecoplus System and Green Building Store’s range of water-efficient sanitaryware.
