Certified Passivhaus Consultant!

Green Building Store is celebrating today (Wednesday 7th December 2011) the news that Director Bill Butcher has just been approved by the Passivhaus Institut, Germany, as a Certified European Passive House Consultant,. Bill applied for the accreditation via the experienced practitioner route, having designed and delivered the pioneering Denby Dale Passivhaus project - the UK's first certified cavity wall Passivhaus.
Bill was Project Leader on the project, which was built by Green Building Store's construction division Green Building Company - and which has pioneered the combination of low energy Passivhaus methodology with standard British cavity wall construction and building materials. Passivhaus design originated in the 1990s in Germany and there are now over 10,000 certified Passivhaus buildings in the world. Typically, Passivhaus buildings are built using timber-frame construction or block work wall with external render.
To
get cavity wall to perform to the Passivhaus standard, Bill and the Green
Building Store team needed to develop many original design details. Technical detailing for the project, including
floor and foundations, first floor, roof, window openings, mechanical
