Triple glazed timber windows chosen for Cornish low energy retrofit Green Building Store

Cornish low energy retrofit

PERFORMANCE windows at Cornish retrofit
Cost was a key factor and PERFORMANCE offered us the thermal performance we were looking for at a price we could afford. We have been very pleased with our PERFORMANCE windows and doors and really like how they look.

The service from Green Building Store has been amazing. Emma in the estimating team was very patient with the many alterations and changes we made to the quote. When we lost our window lock keys recently we were sent a replacement set on the same day. The company has always been very responsive to our requests and dealt with any issues promptly and efficiently.

With the triple glazing, we have noticed how comfortable it is when you are close to the glass. We don’t have any curtains in our living room so the bi-fold doors act like a wall of glass and you can sit right up close to them and not feel cold.

PERFORMANCE triple glazed windows & doors specified for refurbishment of 1960s semi-detached house

The Sutton family recently undertook a whole house refurbishment of their 1960s semi-detached home in Cornwall. The eco renovation included application of 100mm external wall insulation, airtightness measures and upgrading of the windows & doors. The existing windows & doors were poorly performing double glazed uPVC windows.

The Suttons chose triple glazed PERFORMANCE timber windows & doors from Green Building Store to replace them.

Ben Sutton commented: “For aesthetic and environmental reasons we wanted to use timber rather than uPVC for the windows & doors. We also liked the clean and simple style of the PERFORMANCE range, which suited the 1960s property well. PERFORMANCE also offered a good range of translucent finishes. Cost was also a key factor and PERFORMANCE offered us the thermal performance we were looking for at a price we could afford.”

The PERFORMANCE windows & doors have performed well, alongside the other insulation measures. Ben commented: “The house has been dramatically warmer in the winter. With the triple glazing, we have noticed how comfortable it is when you are close to the glass. We don’t have any curtains in our living room so the bi-fold doors act like a wall of glass and you can sit right up close to them and not feel cold. There’s also no condensation on the windows and the sound-proofing is excellent. “

Ben added further:
” We have been very pleased with our PERFORMANCE windows and doors and really like how they look.  In addition, the service from Green Building Store has been amazing. Emma in the estimating team was very patient with the many alterations and changes we made to the quote. When we lost our window lock keys recently we were sent a replacement set on the same day. The company has always been very responsive to our requests and dealt with any issues promptly and efficiently.”
